ABOUT ME

Hi! I am Damián Basante and was born in Buenos Aires in 1985.

I began my drawing studies at the age of 15 with Horacio Lalia (awarded argentinian comic artist) and graduated as Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2009, specializing in drawing and sculpture. During the studing process I began to show greater interest in painting and photography -both hobbies from adolescence- and after graduation I devoted myself fully to both disciplines, constantly complementing each other under mutual influence.

In the last years I added digital illustration as a new professional tool.

I currently divide my professional freelance activity, between oil painting, digital illustration and photography.

I also work as an art teacher since 2010.

“Erich Fromm defines love as an art, he says that both are a practice that transforms us, that makes us more productive, more ourselves. In my life that’s art, a way of living loving what I do and doing what I love.”
